Carolyn Thompson P '27

Carolyn Thompson serves as the Director of Advancement at Radcliffe Creek School, where she applies her profound nonprofit expertise to champion the school’s mission of educating children who learn differently. Leveraging over 25 years of experience in both metropolitan and rural settings, Carolyn, a proud parent of a dyslexic student who has thrived at RCS, brings a uniquely personal and passionate perspective to her role. Her career has been consistently anchored to amplifying the impact of mission-driven organizations by crafting compelling narratives, orchestrating memorable events, and building a broad base of support.


Carolyn's extensive background is a testament to her dedication to the nonprofit sector. Before joining Radcliffe in 2023, she held key positions such as Assistant Director for Communications and Events at the Washington College Center for Environment & Society and Nonprofit Consultant at Heck & Co LLC. Her previous experience also includes serving as Director of Community Engagement at the Humane Society of Kent County and holding various roles in alumni relations and annual giving at Washington College. She also served as a Volunteer Specialist for the American Red Cross and completed a term as a National Service Member with AmeriCorps. A lifelong learner, she holds a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Washington College, where she also minored in Anthropology.


A recognized leader in her field, Carolyn received the Academic Achievement Award from Notre Dame of Maryland University's Nonprofit Management Department. She also shares her creative talents as an award-winning photographer, with her work featured on magazine covers and in local art shows. Outside of her professional life, Carolyn enjoys photography, boating, camping, and cherishing time with her husband, son, and their large and beloved menagerie of animals.
