Becca Gsell P '29
Becca Gsell is a compassionate and dedicated educator who brings a personal and professional commitment to her role as the Kindergarten and first-grade teacher at Radcliffe Creek School. Her journey to Radcliffe was deeply inspired by her own family's experience with learning differences, which motivated her to pursue a career in early childhood education. Becca's teaching philosophy is built on the belief that a love for reading is the foundation of academic success, and she excels at fostering a love of learning by creating vibrant, engaging lessons centered on reading and history.
After working in the legal field in her native Delaware and later relocating to Chestertown, Becca's focus shifted when the pandemic and virtual schooling highlighted the academic struggles her oldest daughter was facing. This pivotal moment led her to enroll in Chesapeake College, where she earned an Associate's Degree in Early Child Development. Concurrently, she became certified in the Fran Bowman Orton Gillingham approach, a powerful tool she now uses to provide multisensory, structured literacy support to her students. Her dedication to mastering this approach was further honed through tutoring with Open Doors Partners in Education. With a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Studies from Arizona State University on the horizon, Becca’s expertise continues to grow.
Having served as a substitute teacher at Radcliffe during the 2022-2023 school year, when her daughter also enrolled as a student, Becca’s connection to the school runs deep. Her experience also includes teaching at Friendship Montessori School, further rounding out her background in primary education. Beyond the classroom, Becca enjoys a rich family life filled with her supportive husband, three daughters, and a menagerie of pets. When she isn't busy with her family's many activities—from Girl Scouts and 4H to sports and horseback riding—she finds time for her hobbies of reading, baking, and planning the family's next adventure.
